This is expressed as the R-value, which is the measure of the materials resistance to heat transfer (alternatively known as thermal resistance). The higher the R-value the more effective is the insulation at resisting heat flow into the building in summer, and out of it in winter. Therefore the R-value is actually a measure of performance. R-value is determined by the thermal conductivity and thickness of the product used. Over a period of time however the R-value can be affected by moisture, aging, dust etc. Incorrect installation methods can also affect the insulation properties of the product.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Thermal resistance<\/strong> is the resistance to heat transfer across a material.
